10,02,2000, Veggie Safari No. 2.
Well here we go again, another hunt for veggie's, this time we are going in a
Land rover and
not a pickup, o.k. it should be more comfortable, ha ha ha. I think we set off at about 11am,
we being myself, Bonn, Nic, Jo, Simon, Bonn's dad and Ndungu driving. We went through part of
Nakuru and turned off on to a nightmare road, we were on it for about 30 minuets, we then stopped
at some place, don't know what it was called but there was only a farm there. After about 10
minuets we set off again, continuing along this bumpy road until we got to Ol'Kalou (see pics) while
we where there we had some drinks and some food, Jo and Bonn's dad Eddy had a drinking competition,
they were drinking Safari and coke, after 3 of them Jo was looking and sounding a bit worse for
wear. After about an hour we set off again but we had another passenger with us, we went up
some even worse roads for about an hour more right up into some hills in the middle of nowhere,
and that was where the nightmare got worse. The Land rover decided to break down, well we where
a freak show to the local's, after all they don't see to many white people in this part of
Kenya. We where stared at by loads of local kids for about 30 minuets, then they got the
Land rover going and we turned round to head back home. As we where setting off a local nutter decided
he wanted a lift and climbed onto the back of the Land rover, we just kept going, the nutter
then climbed onto the roof of the Land rover and tried to kick one of the side windows in, so
with that Eddy, Simon and myself got him off. We carried on with our journey which for me
turned out to be the worst drive of my life as it was so bumpy my backside was bruised and sore.
We finally made it back at about 7.15pm, did nothing else that night except have a few beers
and watch a couple of vids.
